Nokia in the News
Nokia in the News: We keep you up to date with the latest news on Nokia.
Nokia and Android: Despite much speculation to the opposite, Nokia have firmly denied that the company ever had any intention to adopt the new operating system Android into future Smartphones. They have made an official commitment to remain with Symbian for Smartphones. However, the company has announced that it intends to release a notebook computer running on a Linux operating system later this year.
Nokia 3720 Specification Leaked: There has been considerable secrecy surrounding the 3720 Classic, however the specification is now in the public domain. The main feature of the phone is that it is waterproof and dustproof, so with a bit of luck you will be able to use it in the swimming pool, and it doesn’t get much cooler that that. Water used to mean instant death for mobile phone electronics, but it looks like the 3720 has that beat. The 3720 Classic is a mid range phone with 3.2 MP camera and 2.2 inch display.
Nokia Projector Phone to be Launched: Although there is no official launch date, it is now confirmed that Nokia have developed a projector phone. This has a built in micro-projector that uses LEDs to project an image of the display onto a screen, wall or, for that matter, onto any object. The resolution of the new phone will be VGA standard which is perfectly adequate for projecting still photographs and video. The size of the projected image is up to sixty inches.
Nokia Becomes Top Player in Mobile Navigation Market: A recent market survey published by the leading market research company Frost and Sullivan has shown that the majority of GPS users believe that Nokia is the best when it comes to smart phone navigation, with seventy percent of them saying that Nokia is the leading brand. It is anticipated that by 2010 eighty million GPS devices will have been shipped. Nokia have been acquiring mapping and software companies specialising in GPS and is creating a strong presence in European and other markets for mobile navigation.
